MicroPV TM Concentrator Photovoltaic Modules
The MicroPV TM CPV module combines cutting-edge technology and advanced manufacturing processes. In partnership with well known companies such as Photowatts, Axitec Solar, and Motech, PST combines reliable, high-quality solar cells with over ten years of automotive industry manufacturing experience. Using advanced engineering techniques, and leading-edge processes and equipment, PST achieves reliability and superior quality in its MicroPV TM CPV Modules. PST's manufacturing process provides a solution for today's silicon shortage. Only one seventh the silicon is needed for the same power output compared to that of conventional photovoltaic technology. This breakthrough technology affords a dramatic reduction in manufacturing costs, which addresses our goal of achieving affordable solar power now.
Made with advanced manufacturing techniques and materials, patented MicroPV TM CPV modules use micro-lens arrays to direct sunlight to the focal points of the solar cell. The solar cells are only one tenth the size of the lenses. The dome-shaped lens arrays can work with indirect sun light entering within 6 degrees of the direct sunlight. Aluminum module enclosures provide lower operating temperatures when compared to flat-panel module designs.

PST's patented, non-track, concentrated PV modules offer these unique benefits:
- Non-track: Fixed mount (non-track) CPV modules for rooftop or ground mounting applications
- Affordable: Reduced solar-power equipment costs.
- Less silicon: By using a fraction of silicon for each watt, semi-conductor level silicon can be used for building concentrator solar cells.
- Efficiency: Module efficiency is about the same as flat-plate modules. We achieve the low cost and high efficiency at the same time.
- Convenient: Hardware used for mounting flat solar panels can normally be used for mounting our concentrator solar panels. We are developing low-cost mounting rails for our CPV modules.
- Diffuse light caught: Dome- or cylinder-shaped lenses can catch diffuse light and redirect it to the solar cells.
PST's concentrator is the world's best CPV module with dome-shaped and linear lensed CPV modules. Available modules have rated power outputs of 145W, 108W, 126W, 168W, and 36W. These CPV modules use large plastic lenses to focus sunlight onto small silicon cells. Concentrating the sunlight to a few times its normal intensity reduces the required amount of expensive silicon cell material when compared to conventional flat-plate PV modules.
PST modules use uniquely designed PV crystalline concentrator solar cells. The solar cells are mounted to aluminum heat sinks which keeps the solar cells cooler than conventional one-sun solar cells. The solar cell assemblies are electrically insulated and encapsulated for durability and weatherproofing. The secondary lenses are built in, to boost performance. Aluminum extrusions are used to build durable module frames. Module thickness is the same as conventional flat-plate PV modules.
PST non-track concentrator PV modules can be rooftop mounted with /without a tilt angle. Power output performance is similar to flat-plate PV modules. PST's concentrator PV modules have been tested in National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Please see the I-V curves.
